Molybdenum. 316 carries 2 to 3 percent molybdenum that 304 does not, which gives it far better resistance to chlorides, marine air and chemical service. In dry or indoor use 304 is the more economical choice; the moment chlorides are present, 316 is worth its premium. The low-carbon 304L and 316L variants are for parts that are welded and left as-welded.

Yes. Alignment shims, precut shims and laminated peelable shims are cut to your thickness and footprint, most commonly in 304 and 316. We hold a shim stock range so small and urgent orders ship quickly, and larger runs are quoted on enquiry.

Yes, and it is a common request. Needle, ball and manifold valves, compression and tube fittings, and the bolts, nuts and washers can all be held to a single grade such as 316L or 904L, so an instrumentation hook-up or a flanged joint does not mix metals. Give us the grade and the bill of materials and we will quote the set.

Every order ships with an EN 10204 mill test certificate that is heat-number traceable, with positive material identification and third-party witness inspection available at order stage. It is the assurance that the grade on the certificate is the grade in the box.
