Grades: 90/10 (C70600) · 70/30 (C71500) · Forms: Round Bars · Pipes & Tubes · Fittings · Fasteners · Plus: Copper Shims

Aashish Metals is a copper nickel supplier holding the seawater and marine alloys, cupronickel 90/10 and 70/30, as round bars, pipes and tubes, fittings and fasteners, with mill test certificates on every lot. The busiest lines are the copper nickel 90/10 round bars and, from the wider copper range, our copper shims, which are the best-selling item on this shelf. If you already know the grade and the form, the tables below take you straight to the page with sizes and specs.

Cupronickel exists for one environment above all others: seawater. It resists seawater corrosion, shrugs off the erosion that troubles plain copper, and does one thing no stainless or titanium can, it discourages marine growth from settling on it. The two grades cover the range: 90/10 for most seawater duty and copper nickel 70/30 round bars for the harsher, faster-flowing service. Everything here is organised the way a marine or process buyer works: pick the grade for the severity, pick the form for the part.

The Seawater Advantage: Why Cupronickel

Copper nickel is what you specify when the medium is seawater and nothing else offers the same package. It resists seawater corrosion across long service lives, and the small deliberate iron content gives it resistance to the impingement and erosion that eat plain copper in flowing water. Its stand-out property, though, is biofouling resistance: the surface slowly releases a trace of copper ions, which makes it inhospitable to the barnacles, mussels and algae that colonise almost every other material, so a cupronickel line or hull stays clean without antifouling paint or continuous chlorination. Titanium and stainless resist corrosion but foul normally and need cleaning; cupronickel handles fouling in the metallurgy itself. Its nearest cousin is Monel, the nickel-copper alloy from the other end of the same system, which shares the flowing-seawater erosion resistance.

90/10 or 70/30? The Copper Nickel Grade Choice

Cupronickel comes in two main grades and the choice is severity against cost.
90/10 (C70600) 70/30 (C71500)
Nickel About 10 percent About 30 percent
Seawater corrosion Excellent for most service Better still, for the harshest duty
Velocity tolerance Good, for normal seawater flow Higher, for fast or turbulent flow
Strength Moderate Higher
Cost Lower, the default choice Higher, specified when 90/10 is not enough
For most seawater piping, condenser and marine service, 90/10 is the right and economical answer. 70/30 steps in for higher velocities, hotter or more polluted seawater, and where extra strength is needed. If you are unsure, tell us the flow and the water and we will confirm the grade.

Copper Nickel Grades & Forms We Stock

Grade / Product Best for Forms
90/10 (C70600) The seawater default: cooling, condensers, marine piping Round bars, pipes & tubes, fittings, fasteners
70/30 (C71500) Harsher, faster or hotter seawater; higher strength Round bars, pipes & tubes, fittings, fasteners
Copper Shims The best-selling line here: alignment and precut copper shims, cut to size Shims
The wider nickel alloy range carries the neighbouring families for non-seawater service.

Copper Nickel 90/10 (C70600)

90/10, UNS C70600, is the mainstay of the pair and the default for seawater service. It is the standard tube for ship hulls, desalination plant, offshore seawater systems and coastal condensers, chosen for the biofouling resistance and the erosion resistance its iron content provides. We stock it as copper nickel 90/10 round bars for machined valve and pump parts, 90/10 pipes and tubes for seawater lines and condenser bundles, and 90/10 fittings and 90/10 fasteners to complete the system in one grade. For the majority of seawater piping, 90/10 is the correct and economical specification.

Copper Nickel 70/30 (C71500)

70/30, UNS C71500, carries about 30 percent nickel and steps up where 90/10 reaches its limit: faster flow, hotter or more polluted seawater, and duties that need more strength. We hold it as copper nickel 70/30 round bars, 70/30 pipes and tubes, 70/30 fittings and 70/30 fasteners. It costs more than 90/10, so it is specified deliberately rather than as a default, but where the seawater is aggressive or the velocity high it is the grade that lasts.

Copper Shims & Related Copper Products

Alongside the cupronickel grades, the best-converting line on this shelf is copper itself. Our copper shims are supplied as alignment and precut shims, cut to your thickness and footprint, and they are a fast-moving item because copper’s conductivity and softness suit electrical and precision shimming that stainless cannot. They also form part of the site-wide shims range, so if you need shims in more than one metal the whole set can come from one supplier. Copper shims ship quickly from stock in common sizes.

Quality, Certification & Dispatch

Every copper nickel order ships with an EN 10204 mill test certificate, heat-number traceable, with positive material identification available so a 70/30 is confirmed as 70/30 and not 90/10. Copper and cupronickel track the metal markets, so quotations carry a stated validity window rather than an open price. Small shim and bar orders ship quickly from stock; pipe, fittings and larger items are confirmed on enquiry, and third-party witness through BV, SGS or TUV is arranged at order stage. Send the grade, the form and the quantity and the quote comes back with the certification built in.

Copper Nickel Products: Frequently Asked Questions

Cupronickel 90/10 (C70600) and 70/30 (C71500), across round bars, pipes and tubes, fittings and fasteners, plus copper shims from the wider copper range. If a grade or form is not listed, ask, because we hold more than the site shows and can source to specification.

Nickel content and the severity of service they suit. 90/10 has about 10 percent nickel and is the economical default for most seawater piping, condenser and marine work. 70/30 has about 30 percent, tolerating higher velocities, hotter or more polluted seawater and carrying more strength, at a higher cost. Choose 90/10 unless the service is severe enough to need 70/30.

Because it combines three things few materials offer at once: strong seawater corrosion resistance, erosion resistance from its deliberate iron content, and natural resistance to biofouling. The last is unique among seawater materials, the surface discourages barnacles, mussels and algae, so the line stays clean without antifouling paint. That is why cupronickel is the standard for ship hulls, desalination and coastal condensers.

Yes. Copper shims are supplied as alignment and precut shims, cut to your thickness and footprint from stock, and they are one of the fastest-moving items on this shelf. Copper’s conductivity and softness suit electrical and precision shimming, and the shims also form part of our wider multi-metal shims range.

Yes, on every order. Each ships with an EN 10204 mill test certificate that is heat-number traceable, with positive material identification and third-party witness inspection available at order stage, so the grade on the certificate is confirmed as the grade in the box.
