Forged Globe Valves

As a forged globe valve manufacturer and supplier based in Mumbai, Aashish Metals builds and stocks forged globe valves for small-bore, high-pressure throttling duty, from 1/2″ to 2″, in pressure classes running from 800 through 2500. Where a cast steel globe valve makes more sense above 2 inches, a forged body is the better fit below that size because it holds a very high pressure rating in a compact package without the extra bulk casting would need. Our standard body is ASTM A105 forged carbon steel, and we also stock LF2 for low-temperature lines, F11/F22 for elevated temperature, F304/F316/F316L/F321/F347 stainless grades for corrosion resistance, and F51/F55 duplex and super duplex for sour and high-chloride service. Where the media calls for something tougher still, we also cast and forge the same valve pattern in Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy and Alloy 20. Every valve is built with outside-screw-and-yoke (OS&Y) construction, and you can specify either a renewable seat ring or an integral seat ring with a welded bonnet where the line pressure genuinely warrants it. If your project needs a larger valve, or one built for full-bore isolation instead of throttling, take a look at our cast steel globe valves and forged gate valves. Every forged globe valve we ship is hydrostatically shell- and seat-tested per API 598 and comes with an EN 10204 3.1/3.2 mill test certificate and full heat-number traceability.

What Is a Forged Globe Valve?

A globe valve takes its name from the rounded shape of its body. Inside that body sits a disc that lowers onto, or lifts clear of, a fixed seat as you turn the handwheel, which lets you set the flow anywhere between fully open and fully closed rather than just switching it on or off. Most globe valves spend their working life fully open or fully closed, but because the disc position can be fine-tuned, they also handle light throttling duty well, which is exactly why they’re a common choice for steam and gas lines where flow needs occasional adjustment.

Straight-Through, Angle and Oblique Patterns

Forged globe valves come in three body patterns. A straight-through pattern is the standard choice for most lines. An angle pattern turns the flow 90 degrees, which is worth considering for our angle type globe valves range when the piping layout already needs a turn at that point. An oblique pattern angles the internal flow path to increase the flow coefficient and cut pressure drop compared to a standard straight-through design, useful where every bit of pressure recovery matters.

Installation Note

Globe valves need to be installed the right way round: flow should pass from underneath the disc upward through the seat. Getting this backwards increases wear on the disc and seat and can affect shut-off tightness, so it’s worth checking the flow arrow on the body before welding or bolting the valve into the line.

Where Forged Beats Cast

Forging suits small-bore, high-pressure duty because a forged body can hit a very high pressure class without needing the extra wall thickness a cast body of the same size would require. That’s why our forged globe valve range tops out around 2 inches, handing off to cast steel globe valves for larger sizes where casting becomes the more economical route.

FAQ’s About Forged Globe Valve

A forged globe valve is used to throttle or regulate flow in small-bore, high-pressure lines. It can also be used fully open or fully closed like an isolation valve, but its real advantage is fine control of flow rate through partial opening.

We supply forged globe valves from 1/2″ to 2″, in pressure classes 800, 1500 and 2500, built to API 602 and ASME B16.34.

A forged body can achieve a very high pressure rating in a compact size without the extra bulk a cast body of the same rating would need. That makes forged construction the more efficient choice for small-bore, high-pressure duty, typically up to around 2 inches.

A renewable seat ring is a separate part that can be replaced during maintenance. An integral seat ring is machined directly into the body and paired with a welded bonnet, which is generally specified for very high-pressure service where a bolted joint is not the preferred option.

Our standard body is ASTM A105 forged carbon steel. We also supply LF2 for low temperature, F11/F22 for high temperature, F304/F316/F316L/F321/F347 stainless grades, F51/F55 duplex and super duplex, and Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy and Alloy 20 for severe corrosive service.
