What Are Hastelloy Pipe Fittings?
Hastelloy pipe fittings are wrought or fabricated nickel-alloy components used to change direction, branch, reduce, terminate, or connect pipes in large-bore process piping systems. Unlike standard stainless steel fittings, Hastelloy pipe fittings leverage the unique combination of nickel, molybdenum, chromium, and tungsten to deliver corrosion resistance far beyond what conventional materials can provide. They are the first choice for process piping in chemical processing, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, FGD, and offshore industries — wherever fluid streams would destroy lesser alloys within months.
Aashish Metals stocks Hastelloy pipe fittings in three primary grades:
Hastelloy Pipe Fittings Grades
Hastelloy C276 Pipe Fittings
Hastelloy C276 (UNS N10276 / Werkstoff Nr. 2.4819) is the world’s most widely used corrosion-resistant alloy for pipe fittings. Its high molybdenum (15–17%) and tungsten (~3.7%) content delivers exceptional resistance to both oxidising and reducing media — wet chlorine, hypochlorites, sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and mixed acids. Our Hastelloy C276 pipe fittings are the standard choice for critical chemical plant pipework. Complement your order with Hastelloy C276 pipes and tubes for complete loop packages.
Hastelloy C22 Pipe Fittings
Hastelloy C22 (UNS N06022 / Werkstoff Nr. 2.4602) features higher chromium content (20–22.5%) than C276, giving it superior performance in strongly oxidising environments such as nitric acid, chromic acid, and FGD scrubber streams. Our Hastelloy C22 pipe fittings are increasingly specified in pharmaceutical synthesis and mixed-acid environments. Pair with Hastelloy C22 pipes and tubes for a complete piping system.

Manufacturing Process
Seamless Hastelloy pipe fittings are manufactured through the extrusion process, drawn from hot-pierced billets. For welded fittings, plates are taken from seamless material, then welded and formed as per the required shape. In fabrication work, forming, stamping, forging, and multiple other processes are used to achieve the final fitting geometry.

Where Hastelloy Pipe Fittings Are Specified
Hastelloy pipe fittings earn their place in applications where corrosion-driven failures would be catastrophic — either in terms of safety, environmental impact, or unplanned shutdown cost. The following industries are our core customers:
Chemical Processing Industry Hastelloy C276 pipe fittings are the material of choice in reactors, heat exchangers, distillation columns, and storage tank connections handling sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, hydrochloric acid, chlorinated solvents, and mixed acid streams. C22 is preferred wherever oxidising conditions — nitric acid, chromic acid, FGD scrubbing liquor — predominate.
Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Downhole tubing connections, wellhead fittings, offshore platform process pipework, and subsea valve manifolds exposed to sour gas (H₂S), CO₂, and high-chloride brine all benefit from Hastelloy’s resistance to stress-corrosion cracking. Combine with our Hastelloy C276 pipes and tubes for a fully integrated corrosion-resistant system.
Flue-Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) Power station FGD scrubber absorbers, inlet ducting, and recirculation pump casings handle a uniquely aggressive mix of sulphur dioxide, hydrochloric acid, and chlorinated process water — an environment tailored for Hastelloy C22 and C276 fittings.
Pharmaceutical & Fine Chemicals API synthesis reactors, solvent recovery columns, and crystalliser connections use Hastelloy pipe fittings to handle both oxidising sterilants and corrosive process solvents in the same line without material compromise.
Pulp & Paper / Cellulose Industry Bleaching plant pipework, digester connections, and black liquor evaporator headers depend on Hastelloy’s resistance to chlorinated bleaching agents and acidic pulping liquors.
Nuclear & Power Generation Specialty chemicals and steam service pipework in nuclear power plants use Hastelloy fittings for their unique combination of corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, and dimensional stability under cyclic thermal loading.
Marine / Seawater Service Desalination plant process connections, offshore heat exchanger headers, and shipboard cooling-water systems use Hastelloy fittings for their exceptional resistance to seawater pitting and crevice corrosion.
FAQs Hastelloy Pipe Fittings
Hastelloy buttweld pipe fittings conform to ASTM B366 / ASME SB366 for material and ASME B16.9 (long radius) or ASME B16.28 (short radius) for dimensional standards. Low-pressure corrosion-resistant fittings also conform to MSS-SP-43.
Aashish Metals supplies Hastelloy C276 pipe fittings from 1/8″ NB to 48″ NB. Seamless fittings are available from 1/2″ to 10″ NB, and welded/fabricated fittings from 1/2″ to 48″ NB, in wall thicknesses from Sch 5S to Sch XXS.
We supply the complete range: 45°, 90°, and 180° elbows (long and short radius), equal and reducing tees, concentric reducers, eccentric reducers, pipe caps, long and short stub ends, equal and reducing crosses, collars, nipples, pipe bends, and DIN/EN series fittings. Forged socket-weld and threaded fittings are also available.
Hastelloy C276 resists both oxidising and reducing environments and is the general-purpose corrosion-resistant choice. Hastelloy C22 has higher chromium and performs better in strongly oxidising environments like nitric acid or FGD scrubber streams. For a mixed-acid or chlorine-rich environment, C276 is typically preferred; for oxidising service, C22 is the specialist grade.
Yes. Hastelloy C276 and C22 pipe fittings meet NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for sour-gas service. We supply the relevant compliance documentation on request — an important requirement for oil & gas and offshore projects.
Hastelloy elbows are available in short radius (1D), long radius (1.5D), 3D, 5D, 6D, 8D, and 10D bend radii, as well as custom radii on request. Bending angles cover 22.5°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°, 135°, and 180°.
