Monel Products Supplier, Stockist & Exporter in India
Monel products use nickel-copper alloys selected for corrosion resistance, strength and toughness in demanding marine and chemical-process service. Grade selection depends on the medium, aeration, temperature, mechanical load and the applicable product specification.
Aashish Metal & Alloys supplies Monel products in Monel 400 (UNS N04400) and Monel K500 (UNS N05500) across a wide range of product forms, including pipes, tubes, sheets, plates, round bars, rods, buttweld fittings, forged fittings, flanges, and fasteners. Monel 400 is widely used where corrosion resistance and toughness are the primary requirements, while Monel K500 provides higher strength through age hardening for applications such as pump shafts, valve components, and marine equipment.
Orders can be supplied with EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates and heat-number traceability. PMI, EN 10204 3.2 documentation and third-party inspection can be arranged when specified in the purchase order.

Chemical Composition of Monel Products
Monel 400 (UNS N04400) is a solid-solution nickel-copper alloy strengthened primarily by cold work. Monel K500 (UNS N05500) adds aluminium and titanium, allowing precipitation/age hardening to produce much higher strength while retaining broadly similar corrosion resistance.
| Element | Monel 400 (%) | Monel K500 (%) |
|---|---|---|
| Nickel (Ni) | 63 min | 63 min |
| Copper (Cu) | 28 – 34 | 27 – 33 |
| Iron (Fe) | 2.5 max | 2.0 max |
| Carbon (C) | 0.30 max | 0.25 max |
| Manganese (Mn) | 2.0 max | 1.5 max |
| Silicon (Si) | 0.5 max | 0.5 max |
| Sulphur (S) | 0.024 max | 0.010 max |
| Aluminium (Al) | – | 2.30 – 3.15 |
| Titanium (Ti) | – | 0.35 – 0.85 |
Mechanical Properties of Monel Products
Typical room-temperature mechanical properties vary by product form and condition. The table below compares representative Monel 400 annealed properties with Monel K500 in an age-hardened condition; the governing ASTM specification and Mill Test Certificate take precedence.
| Property | Monel 400 (Annealed) | Monel K500 (Age-Hardened) |
|---|---|---|
| Tensile strength | 480 – 620 MPa | 965 – 1100 MPa |
| Yield strength (0.2%) | 170 – 345 MPa | 655 – 790 MPa |
| Elongation | 35% – 60% | 20% – 30% |
| Hardness | 110 – 150 HB | 250 – 350 HB |
Cold-worked and stress-relieved conditions raise tensile and yield figures further at the cost of ductility; exact values depend on form and heat treatment — confirm required condition at enquiry stage.

Monel vs Stainless Steel: When to Specify Monel
Monel is not a general-purpose replacement for stainless steel. Monel 400 is widely used in seawater and in selected reducing chemical environments, including hydrofluoric, sulphuric and hydrochloric-acid service under suitable concentration, temperature and aeration conditions. Its corrosion behaviour changes when oxidising species or aeration increase, so material selection should be based on the actual process chemistry rather than alloy name alone. For an enquiry, provide the medium, concentration, temperature, aeration/oxidising conditions and flow velocity so the grade and product form can be checked against the service requirement.
Both grades are stocked as round bars, pipes and tubes, fittings, fasteners and sheets, and the wider nickel alloy range carries the neighbouring families.
Quality, Certification & Traceability
Orders can be supplied with EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificates and heat-number traceability, with PMI, EN 10204 3.2 and third-party witness inspection arranged when specified. MONEL® is a trademark of the Special Metals Corporation group; using UNS N04400 for alloy 400 and UNS N05500 for alloy K500 keeps the material requirement clear across approved mills. Sour-service suitability must be ordered and verified against NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 and the project conditions rather than assumed from alloy name alone.
Standards referenced: ASTM B127, B163, B164, B165, B366/B366M, B564, B725, B730 and B865; ASTM F467/F468 where applicable to nonferrous fasteners; ASME SB equivalents where published; EN 10204 3.1/3.2 documentation; NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 where specified for sour service.
Monel Products Price & HSN Codes
Monel is generally quoted per kilogram, with the rate influenced by alloy grade, product form, dimensions, condition/heat treatment, quantity, testing/certification and current nickel/copper market inputs. K500 typically carries additional processing cost because its higher strength depends on age hardening. Send the grade or UNS number, product form, size and quantity for a current quotation.
HSN / HS heading reference:
- 7505 — Nickel alloy bars, rods, profiles and wire
- 7506 — Nickel alloy plates, sheets, strip and foil
- 7507 — Nickel alloy tubes, pipes and tube/pipe fittings
- 7508 — Other articles of nickel alloy; use only when the product is not more specifically classified elsewhere
HSN classification depends on the exact product form, condition and transaction. Confirm the applicable code with the compliance/GST/customs team before filing.
FAQs About Monel Products
Monel is used in marine, chemical processing, oil and gas, and industrial applications requiring good corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. Common products include pipes, tubes, fittings, flanges, shafts, fasteners, sheets, and plates.
Monel is relatively expensive because it contains a high proportion of nickel and copper, which are costly alloying elements. Its specialized corrosion resistance, strength, and performance in demanding environments also contribute to its higher price.
Monel is not universally better than stainless steel; the suitable material depends on the application and service conditions. Monel can provide advantages in certain corrosive environments, while stainless steel may be more economical and suitable for many general-purpose applications.
Monel is a nickel-copper alloy containing nickel as its primary element along with copper and smaller amounts of other elements. Monel 400 and Monel K500 are two commonly specified grades.
Monel price per kilogram varies with grade, product form, dimensions, condition, quantity, testing/certification and current nickel/copper market inputs. Send Aashish Metal & Alloys the grade, product form, size and quantity for a current quotation.
Monel 400 is a solid-solution nickel-copper alloy strengthened mainly by cold work. Monel K500 adds aluminium and titanium, allowing age hardening to produce much higher strength while retaining broadly similar corrosion resistance. Monel 400 is widely used for process piping and corrosion-resistant equipment; K500 is commonly selected for shafts, valve stems and high-strength fasteners.
Monel 400 has a Curie temperature close to room temperature, so magnetic response can vary with composition and temperature. Monel K500 has very low magnetic permeability and is essentially non-magnetic to about −100°C.
