What Is Monel Round Bar?
Monel round bar is a solid cylindrical bar manufactured from Monel nickel-copper alloy — an alloy composed primarily of nickel (~65–67%) and copper (~30–32%), with minor additions of iron, manganese, and carbon. It offers superior tensile strength, weldability, and corrosion resistance compared to conventional stainless steel and aluminium alloys, especially in reducing environments, seawater, acidic media, and high-temperature steam conditions. Monel round bars deliver excellent heat-to-weight ratios and tolerate immense pressures and temperatures encountered in petrochemical, marine, and power generation environments.
Monel Round Bar Material Grades
Monel 400 Round Bar (UNS N04400 / ASTM B164)
Monel 400 is the standard grade — available annealed (soft) for maximum ductility and formability. It provides excellent weldability, good corrosion resistance in seawater and HF acid, and reliable performance across a broad temperature range. Standard ASTM B164 / ASME SB164. Our Monel 400 round bars are the most widely stocked form.
Monel K500 Round Bar (UNS N05500 / ASTM B865)
Monel K500 adds approximately 2.7% aluminium and 0.6% titanium to the Monel 400 base, enabling precipitation hardening to achieve tensile strengths of 900–1,100 MPa — roughly three times the yield strength of annealed Monel 400. It retains the same corrosion resistance and is specified for pump shafts, valve stems, propeller shafts, springs, and high-strength fasteners in corrosive service. Standard ASTM B865 / ASME SB865.
