Machining Recommendations

Heat Treatment & Age Hardening
Monel K500 achieves maximum strength through precipitation hardening at 593°C (1100°F) for 16 hours, followed by air cooling. This process increases tensile strength from 790 MPa (annealed) to 1100 MPa (age-hardened) while maintaining ductility. Corrosion Resistance Performance
Monel K500 demonstrates excellent resistance to seawater (corrosion rate <0.02 mm/year), hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid up to 80% concentration, and alkaline solutions. Superior to 316 stainless steel in chloride environments. Not recommended for oxidizing acids like nitric or chromic acid.
