What is Stainless Steel 347 Pipe & Tube?
Stainless Steel 347 is a columbium (niobium) and tantalum stabilized austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel alloy. The addition of columbium prevents the sensitization (carbide precipitation at grain boundaries) that typically occurs in unstabilized austenitic grades like 304 and 316 when exposed to the 425–900°C temperature range. This makes SS 347 exceptionally suitable for welded components and structures that cannot undergo post-weld annealing.
SS 347H is the high-carbon variant of grade 347, designed specifically for elevated temperature service where enhanced creep and stress-rupture strength are required. It is widely specified for power plant boiler components, superheater tubes, and heat exchanger applications operating above 600°C.

Our Manufacturing & Supply Process
Step 1 — Raw Material Sourcing
We source prime-quality stainless steel billets and coils from SAIL, JSW, Jindal, and internationally approved mills in Japan, Korea, Europe, and the USA. Every heat is verified by spectro analysis before processing.
Step 2 — Manufacturing
Depending on the product specification, pipes are produced by hot extrusion, cold drawing, electric resistance welding, or electric fusion welding. All processes are executed under ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management systems.
Step 3 — Heat Treatment & Finishing
All pipes and tubes undergo solution annealing at 1040–1120°C, followed by rapid quenching, to achieve optimum corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. Finishing options include pickling, bright annealing, polishing, and electropolishing.
Step 4 — Inspection & Testing
Each lot undergoes comprehensive testing including chemical analysis, mechanical testing, dimensional inspection, hydrostatic pressure testing, and NDT (UT/ET/RT) as per the applicable ASTM/ASME standard.
Step 5 — Packaging & Dispatch
Products are packed in export-quality wooden crates, plastic bags, or shrink-wrapped bundles with end caps to prevent moisture and mechanical damage. Full marking includes grade, size, heat number, schedule, and manufacturer logo for complete traceability.

FAQs - Stainless Steel 347 Pipe
SS 347 and SS 347H are both columbium-stabilized austenitic stainless steels. The key difference is carbon content: SS 347 has a maximum of 0.08% carbon, while SS 347H has a controlled carbon range of 0.04–0.10%. This higher carbon in 347H significantly improves creep and stress-rupture strength at temperatures above 600°C, making 347H the preferred grade for high-temperature service in boilers, superheaters, and furnace components. For corrosion-resistant welded structures at moderate temperatures, standard 347 is typically sufficient.
At Aashish Metal & Alloys, SS 347 seamless pipes are available from 1/8″ NB to 24″ NB (6mm OD to 914.4mm OD) with wall thicknesses ranging from SCH 5S to SCH XXS (approximately 0.3mm to 50mm wall). OD-sized seamless tubes are available from 6mm to 914.4mm. For sizes outside standard stock, we accept custom orders with typical lead times of 4–8 weeks depending on complexity.
Yes. We supply IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) approved SS 347H boiler tubes compliant with the requirements of the Indian Boiler Act. IBR Test Certificates in Form III-D are provided with every consignment of IBR-approved material. Third-party inspection by IBR-approved inspection agencies can also be arranged on request.
Absolutely. We specialize in custom-size manufacturing for project-specific requirements. Whether you need a specific OD, wall thickness, length, end condition, or surface finish not listed in our standard stock, our manufacturing facility can accommodate your requirements. Please share your complete technical specification, and our engineering team will provide a detailed quotation within 24 hours.
