Both grades belong to the niobium (columbium) stabilised austenitic family conforming to ASTM A182 / ASME SA182, with dimensions to ASME B16.11. The stabilising addition locks up carbon as stable niobium carbides, which protects welded joints from sensitisation and intergranular corrosion — the exact failure mode that defeats ordinary 304 fittings in hot service. Grade 347H carries a tightly controlled higher carbon range that delivers superior creep strength above 540°C, making it the preferred choice for superheaters, reformer lines and steam headers. We forge each fitting from fully certified raw material, machine threads to ASME B1.20.1 (NPT), and back every consignment with EN 10204 3.1 mill test reports. Manufacturing & Quality Process

Stage What Happens
1. Material verification Each heat is checked by spectro analysis and matched against ASTM A182 before forging.
2. Closed-die forging Billets are heated and forged to achieve continuous, void-free grain flow.
3. Solution annealing Fittings are heat-treated and quenched to restore corrosion resistance.
4. CNC thread machining Threads are cut and gauged to ASME B1.20.1 (NPT) tolerances.
5. Inspection & testing Dimensional, PMI, hardness and (where specified) hydro and DP testing.
6. Marking & documentation Heat-number marking plus EN 10204 3.1 certificate, then export packing.

Both are niobium-stabilised austenitic stainless steels. SS 347H has a controlled higher carbon range (0.04–0.10%) that gives better creep strength above 540°C, so it is chosen for superheaters and high-temperature steam service. SS 347 suits general corrosion and moderate-temperature applications.

Niobium (columbium) combines with carbon to form stable niobium carbides. This prevents chromium carbide precipitation at grain boundaries during welding, protecting the fitting from sensitisation and intergranular corrosion in hot service.

 We supply Class 2000, 3000, 6000 and 9000 LBS. Threaded fittings are most common in 2000–6000 class; 9000 class is typically supplied as socket weld. We can advise on the correct rating for your design pressure and temperature.

Standard production runs from 1/8″ NB to 4″ NB to ASME B16.11. Custom and reducing sizes are made to drawing on request.

 Yes. Every consignment ships with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates covering chemical composition and mechanical properties, with heat-number traceability. Third-party inspection (SGS, BV, Lloyd’s, TUV) can be arranged.
